In addition to Venturi's moon rover, three cars were unveiled at Top Marques for the first time anywhere in the world: a concept car, a battery-less electric car and a tribute to our sporting past.
The Audi RS 6 GTO, a racing car designed by students
Until the end of May, its presence at the Top Marques show remained a well-kept secret. On the evening of Wednesday 7 June 2023, long hidden under a black sheet, the Audi RS 6 GTO concept unveiled its robust 2.09-metre-wide silhouette and bodywork featuring the Audi Sport colour code.
"It pays homage to four decades of four-wheel drive technology, as well as to the 90 quattro, which has won numerous rallies, notably in the United States," explains Magali Jessiaume, the carmaker's press officer for products and technologies in France.
The engine develops 705bhp
The car with its super-powerful V8 engine - developing 705 horsepower and 900 Newton metres of torque - was designed in 2020 by twelve third-year students at the Audi Academy in Neckarsulm, Germany. These young prodigies from four different professions worked alongside Audi's designers and technical teams for half a year to bring this ambitious project to life.
This type of vehicle, which is not yet on the market, foreshadows the brand's strategy for the future. "It foreshadows the future RS6, which will be entirely electric. From 2026 onwards, everything new from Audi will be electric," continues Magali Jessiaume. It also suggests that the future RS6 will be even more muscular than the current generation."
The Quantino 25, electric but without batteries
An electric car running without... batteries. Yes, it's possible, and it's on show at Top Marques.
"A revolution", says Hektor Bertschi, on the stand of nanoFlowcell, a London-based company unveiling its Quantino twentyfive roadster. Thanks to a full tank (*) of its electrolyte fuel called Bi-iON, which uses salty seawater or even waste water, the 2+2-seater car is said to have a range of 2,000 km. On paper, these promises are sometimes criticised and called into question by certain articles in the specialist press.
We've eliminated all the problems associated with conventional electric cars," he says, "including the danger of running on 48 volts only, recycling and the exploitation of rare metals such as cobalt and lithium, which are used in batteries. And as the battery ages, you lose range. We offer a guarantee of one million km.
The company is currently starting series production in the United States but has not yet put the vehicle on sale, which is estimated to cost around 30,000 dollars.
