Why the 7th edition of the E-Rallye Monte-Carlo will be unforgettable

The route was revealed an hour before the start and the use of mobile phones was banned on board... This 7th edition of the E-Rallye Monte-Carlo was notable for the new rules that spiced up the race.

This 7th edition of the E-Rallye Monte-Carlo will go down in history. Firstly, because it was hit by storm Aline and two of Friday's four events had to be cancelled. But also and above all because this 2023 vintage marked a change of direction in the rules. A secret itinerary revealed to the main participants just one hour before the start. The importance of automated equipment has been reduced, reshuffling the cards of success. The future - and especially the 8th edition - will tell us whether these innovations are here to stay, but the fact remains that this 2023 version of the E-Rallye has been spiced up with ACM sauce.

Some will say, rightly or wrongly, that the new rules have widened the gap in levels, others will say the opposite. But it's clear that the Automobile Club de Monaco has succeeded in pushing the participants to the limit.

At the wheel of their Kia E-Niro, it was the Spanish pairing of Conde Eneko and Lukas Sergnese who narrowly won the race on Saturday night in the famous dark of the Col de Turini. It was a one-two for the Korean manufacturer, ahead of a Volkswagen ID3.
