The service park in Gap is history!

The Monte-Carlo Rally will open the 2022 edition of the World Rally Championship (WRC) from its home town of Monaco, not Gap as has been the custom in recent years. This was the wish of the organizing committee of the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM), so that the 90th edition of the oldest rally in the world still in existence can be celebrated in a fitting manner. With 95% of the route changed compared to last year, the organizer promises a rally that is more than ever a mixture of the past and originality. The very demanding special stages will be held in the French departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

After three days of route reconnaissance, from Monday, January 17 to Wednesday, January 19, the official start of the 90th Rally Monte-Carlo is scheduled for Thursday, January 20, at 6:45 p.m. on the fully renovated and majestic Casino Square. This first night stage will consist of two well-known stages with a total length of 38.83 km: "Lucéram / Lantosque" (SS1 - 15.31 km - 20:18) and "La Bollène-Vésubie / Moulinet" (SS2 - 23.52 km - 21:26) will open the "Turini Night 2022".

On Friday, January 21, the teams will head to the northern part of the Alpes-Maritimes departments to complete the second day with a total of 118.88 km in two loops of three stages near the Mercantour National Park. In the middle of the toughest day of the rally, there will be a lunch break in Puget-Théniers to regroup and change tires. The program includes the stages "Roure / Beuil" (SS3/6 - 18.44 km - 9:14 h / 14:43 h), "Pierlas / Ilonse" (SS4/7 - 19.9 km - 10:02 h / 15:31 h) and "La Tour-sur-Tinée / Saint-Jean-la-Rivière" (SS5/8 - 21.1 km - 11:00 h / 16:29 h).

Day 3 will take place on Saturday, January 22 in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The 94.10km stage begins with "Le Fugeret / Thorame-Haute" (SS9 - 18.5km - 8:17am), nicknamed "La Colle Saint-Michel" by pundits and fans. A double loop follows before and after a lunch break in Digne-les-Bains to regroup and change tires. A new stage "Saint-Jeannet / Malijai" (SS10/12 - 17.04 km - 10:08 am / 2:08 pm) will be paired with the ominous "Saint-Geniez / Thoard" (SS11/13 - 20.76 km - 11:16 am / 3:16 pm) via Authon and the very demanding Col de Fontbelle, all without the possibility of a service during the day, which will certainly be challenging for the remaining crews.

To finish this 90th edition in style, four stages with a total length of 67.52 kilometers will be ridden without service on Sunday, January 23, in the northwest of the Alpes-Maritimes, near the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Each stage will be run twice, starting with a new section "La Penne / Collongues" (SS14/16 - 19.45 km - 8:45 am / 10:55 am) and continuing with "Briançonnet / Entrevaux" (SS15/17 - 14.31 km - 10:08 am / 12:18 pm) over the Col du Buis and the Val-de-Chalvagne, where the second run will be the Power Stage. The remaining teams will then arrive back in Monaco at around 14:00 to cross the finish line before taking part in the prize-giving ceremony in Casino Square.
