With a major new feature this year, a deep dive into the preparation of the Automobile Club of Monaco stewards for the Grand Prix.

A few hundred stewards gathered this weekend around the Fontvieille marquee to prepare for the two motor racing events coming up in May.

"The whole world is watching you, you have to be efficient." On the Fontvieille seawall, dozens of stewards and apprentices take turns attending the fire workshops led by the Monaco Fire Brigade. One of the leaders motivates the troops, giving a voice and offering valuable advice to the deafening roar of Heli Air helicopters.

In their firefighting gear, helmets screwed onto their heads, the stewards learn how to control a fire on a single-seater. From opening the gate—to simulate real-life situations—to completely extinguishing the fire, every single action is scrutinized by the supervisors. Speed of execution, responsiveness, adaptation, and mastery of technique are key. It's an art that must be mastered to earn—or maintain—a place among the most skilled fire marshals in the world.

Just before their baptism of fire, the marshals are invited to familiarize themselves with the flames and the firefighting equipment.
