Relive Monaco's National Day in photos as if you were there

Monegasques gathered on the Rock this Wednesday to celebrate the Princely Family and commemorate national unity on November 19th.

One, then several bursts of children's laughter... Their high, thin voices broke the cathedral-like silence of the Court of Honor, where everyone stood at attention. The moment was unusual and served as a reminder that for the Grimaldi family, National Day is also a family celebration.

And it was these younger generations who made their voices heard, taking their places shortly after 11 a.m. inside the Prince's Palace for the first military ceremony of the day.

Silence returned with the arrival of the Princely Family. Positioned in the heart of the courtyard, before the double-helix staircase, Prince Albert II presided over the ceremony.

In his shadow, ramrod straight and impeccably dressed in his carabiniere uniform, Hereditary Prince Jacques followed his father's every move. He mimes the military salute perfectly. And he begins to sing in unison when the men of the Force Publique launch into an a cappella rendition of a Monegasque anthem, full of emphasis, within the walls of the former Grimaldi fortress.

The parade puts on a show.

The few drops of rain that fell at the start of the ceremony did not hinder the Sovereign's mission to recognize members of the Force Publique with ranks and medals. He then presented other medals, this time to Palace staff, under the watchful eyes of his family.

A third round of insignia was then distributed during the second ceremony of the day, this time in the Palace Square. Two rooms, two atmospheres. The Princely Family had already returned to the upper floors to appear at the windows.
