A Monegasque study reveals the cognitive superpowers of former Formula 1 drivers
With the support of the Automobile Club de Monaco and the blessing of the FIA, Dr. Benoît Paulmier and his colleagues at the CHPG studied the brains of 12 former drivers. The first conclusions reveal extraordinary cognitive abilities that persist over time. Possible traumas still need to be identified through earlier monitoring.
"We have to be humble, this is preliminary work." Sitting at a table in the lounges of the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM), where he heads the Medical Commission, Dr. Benoît Paulmier, although modest and cautious, is delighted with the prospects opened up by the first phase of an unprecedented study conducted from 2021 to 2023 at the CHPG on the brains of former drivers.
