Got a makeover for 800,000 euros
The work will have lasted a year. The basin has been redesigned to make it easier to walk and an ecological filtration system makes the water transparent.
The Fontvieille basin and its duck pond have had a real makeover in recent months.
The work, which started in August, has led to a complete overhaul of the appearance of the basin where visitors can once again admire ducks and fish.
Instead of a small concrete coping that surrounded the pond, the basin now offers its visitors a real walk around the pond.
Suitable for people in wheelchairs but also for children in strollers, the pontoon is made of bamboo wood. A 100% ecological choice, which has a negative impact on the environment.
Bamboo takes only five years to grow, unlike a more exotic tree, which takes between twenty and thirty years.
The new promenade surrounds the basin which has also undergone some improvements.
In addition to the new footbridge which now provides access to the water, a pond filtration system allows the inhabitants of this body of water to live in a healthier space.
