The Junior Street Art Challenge is looking for its artists

After two cancellations due to the health situation, the competition is back and will be held as part of the Urban Painting Around the World (UPAW) from 17 to 20 June.

A wish of the schoolchildren participating in the junior communal project that was fulfilled in 2019. The Junior Street Art Challenge is returning to the UPAW this year, after a two-year hiatus, and the town hall is launching its call for applications from pupils from the fourth to the last year of secondary school. "The competition was a great success during its first edition, but the 2020 and 2021 sessions had to be cancelled due to the health situation," the municipality said in its press release. To take part, candidates must fill in the form available on the town hall website and submit it by 20 May at the latest to the institution's communications department by email or post. This document must be accompanied by a letter of motivation presenting the team and the orientations that will be given to its creation, as well as a letter of parental authorization. "The competition is limited to three teams with a maximum of five participants per team. The first three teams to return their complete application will be officially entered into the competition," it says. From 17 to 20 June, the young artists will be evaluated by a jury of internationally renowned street artists for their creations on 1.5m by 1.5m canvases. This year, the UPAW will take place on the Terrasses du Soleil, behind the Casino, where the artists will have to create works on the theme of the forest.

Indeed, the event is organised in favour of the initiative for the cohabitation of man and wildlife, supported by the Prince Albert II Foundation.
