Until Sunday, philosophy takes to the streets in Monaco
PhiloMonaco Week is being held in the Principality until Sunday, with the aim of putting philosophy back on the streets. On Wednesday, guests discussed the theme of education.
Organised by the Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco, PhiloMonaco Week aims to revive the original tradition of philosophy by putting dialogue back at the heart of the street. "Philosophy has always been public, even if there has been a split since then between teaching in the true sense of the word, which is done in schools, and a more popular philosophy that was done in the street and got lost along the way. It's quite brilliant to re-establish public conversation. One of the great ills of our contemporary world is the fact that nobody converses any more. These days, people harass each other, polemicise, shout and rant. Ranting is a way of covering up speech. It's anything but debate", says Robert Maggiori, one of the founding members of these meetings.
