The 45th Monte-Carlo Circus Festival makes its comeback

The 45th edition, which is due to start on 20 January after an absence of two years, intends to defend the values of the traditional circus and encourage artists to surpass themselves.

Everywhere there is activity, bustle and discussion. The area around the Fontvieille big top has regained the January excitement that it hasn't had for two years.
After two cancellations in 2021 and 2022 due to a pandemic, the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival is making a comeback this season.

Never before in half a century has the event passed its turn two years in a row.

The smiles are back on the faces of the Festival team, led by Princess Stéphanie who presides over the Festival.
In mid-December, the technical teams took possession of the big top to transform the multi-purpose space into a circus den with 4,000 seats in tiers. The assembly was completed at the beginning of the week so that the artists could start rehearsals this Thursday.

This year, the 45th edition is scheduled to take place from 20th to 29th January with sixteen shows planned on the Monegasque ring.
And this comeback is being made with a lot of fanfare because of two anniversaries: a jubilee for the 45th edition (which should have been celebrated in 2021) of the International Festival and the tenth anniversary of the New Generation, the junior version of the Festival which has been dedicated for a decade to up-and-coming artists.
